Nike Foundation

The Nike Foundation invests exclusively in adolescent girls as the most powerful force for change and poverty alleviation in the developing world. The Foundation’s investments are designed to get girls on the global agenda and drive resources to them. The work of the Nike Foundation is supported by Nike, Inc. and the NoVo Foundation, a collaboration which has enabled exponential impact of the Girl Effect.

United Nations Foundation (UNF)

The UN Foundation, a public charity, was created in 1998 with entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner’s historic $1 billion gift to support UN causes and activities. UNF are an advocate for the UN and a platform for connecting people, ideas and resources to help the United Nations solve global problems. The organization helps the UN take its best work and ideas to scale—through advocacy, partnerships, constituency building and fund-raising.

Maplecroft

Maplecroft works on risk and responsibility. It is a leading source of global risks intelligence and insight into responsible business practice. Maplecroft analyses, indexes and maps over 100 global risks to help organizations identify areas of high risk and navigate the complex challenges encompassed by climate change, pandemics, resource security, conflict and human rights.

Maplecroft is committed to sharing its research and analysis to widen awareness of human rights issues and the range of dilemmas that business and society face in acting responsibly. To meet this commitment we regularly work with non-profit organizations, at discounted rates or pro bono, producing custom maps, websites, stakeholder forums and issue specific reports. Maplecroft is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee of experts, who have provided invaluable input over the months of development of the Girls Discovered site, includes experts from the Population Council, the Center for Global Development, the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), the International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC), Guttmacher Institute, UNFPA, UNICEF, the World Bank, the NoVo Foundation, MIT, the United Nations Foundation (UNF) and the Nike Foundation.

Girls Discovered has benefited from the significant input of experts Judith Bruce and Adam Weiner from the Population Council, and Sanjeer Alam from the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies in India.
